Turning The Tide: Stockholm Lab – Programme release
September 8, 2025On September 10, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will deliver a speech on the State of the European Union. The speech is called “State of the European Union” and goes by the acronym SOTEU. The speech is important because it provides a summary of the current situation of the EU, both the events and successes of the past year, but also the challenges facing the Union and the priorities that will shape the work of the EU – and in the long run Sweden and Stockholm.
The speech is one of the most important opportunities of the year to hear about visions, priorities and choices for the future of Europe. It is the first speech of von der Leyen’s second term and sets the tone for where the Union is heading.
We at Europe Direct Stockholm will be highlighting the speech on our social media channels during the week. We have chosen to highlight different aspects from the perspectives that are particularly close to EDS and Intercult:
– Climate
– Culture
– Democracy and civic engagement
After the speech, we report and invite experts on the topic to analyze with us. Hear inputs and reflections from Culture Action Europe and Formas, among others. The interviews are done together with Europa Direkt Södertälje. Join us!
All posts are published on Europa Direkt Stockholm’s Instagram.
Also take part in social media posts under the tag #SOTEU.
