Help us fill in the survey on the state of culture in Europe
May 26, 2026On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Kungsträdgården in Stockholm was transformed into a vibrant European festival! With glorious sunshine, a packed program and free entry, this year’s Europe Day attracted a large number of visitors to celebrate peace, cohesion and European democracy. From 11:00 to 18:00, Kungsträdgården was filled with life and movement. Visitors were treated to a great mix of food, live music, exciting political debates, representation from over 31 countries and attractions – including the chance to check out the world’s largest coffee pot!
Full activity in the Europe Direct tent
One of the most popular stops of the festival was the tent where Europe Direct Stockholm/Intercult was located. We were there together with our colleagues from Europe Direct South Skåne and the tent was also shared with the Climate Pact Ambassadors.
The Europe Direct tent provided plenty of opportunities for citizens to learn more about the EU and how to make their voice heard:
-
Engagement and impact: Visitors learned about the European network and practical tools such as the European Citizens’ Initiative, which gives ordinary citizens the chance to directly influence EU legislation.
-
Art exhibition at Kulturhuset: Many young creatives took the opportunity to hear more about our open call, seeking young artists for an upcoming art exhibition at Experience Europe in the Kulturhuset Stadsteatern. Read more and apply here.
-
Quiz with great prizes: For those who wanted to test their European knowledge, a highly appreciated EU quiz on different cities in Europe was organized, with winners going home with great prizes.

A day of dialogue and thinking about the future
Europe Day in Kungsträdgården once again showed the importance of the personal meeting. Moving EU affairs to the heart of Stockholm created an accessible platform where passers-by, students and engaged citizens could meet across national borders. With debates ranging from local grassroots initiatives to major Brussels issues, and participants from all over Europe, the day was a colorful reminder of what the European Community is all about.
Thank you to everyone who came by, chatted, competed in the quiz and celebrated Europe Day 2026 with us!
