{"id":2758,"date":"2026-02-25T15:41:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T15:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intercult.se\/2026\/02\/25\/open-lecture-with-alice-bah-kuhnke-culture-and-associations\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T15:41:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T15:41:13","slug":"open-lecture-with-alice-bah-kuhnke-culture-and-associations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intercult.se\/en\/2026\/02\/25\/open-lecture-with-alice-bah-kuhnke-culture-and-associations\/","title":{"rendered":"Open lecture with Alice Bah Kuhnke: Culture and associations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><i>Culture and civil society &#8211; part of the defense of a free and open Europe<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/visiting.europarl.europa.eu\/sv\/visitor-offer\/other-locations\/europa-experience\/stockholm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Upplev Europa<\/a>, Europa Direkt Stockholm and Intercult present a series of open lectures on the theme of democracy in spring 2026.<\/p>\n<p>First in the series is a lecture by <strong>Alice Bah Kuhnke (MP<\/strong>), Member of the European Parliament and former Minister for Culture and Democracy, on culture and civil society as part of Europe&#8217;s cultural heritage, civil defense and a fundamental prerequisite for a sustainable, free and democratic EU.<\/p>\n<p>How can culture and associations strengthen communities and develop our societies?<\/p>\n<p>In a Europe challenged by polarization, security threats, and rapid transitions, culture and civil society are key drivers of democracy, EU stability, and the resilience of our societies. Through culture and engagement, we meet, challenge, develop ideas and find common answers to the biggest issues of our time, from human rights and international cooperation to the green transition. In this lecture, we explore the role that culture and strong civil societies can play as tools for a more open and inclusive Europe.  <\/p>\n<p><b>Where: <\/b>Experience Europe, Kulturhuset &#8211; Sergels torg 7, Stockholm<\/p>\n<p><b>When<\/b>: March 18, 12.00 &#8211; 12.45 (admission from 11.40) <\/p>\n<p><b>How: <\/b>Limited number of places and mandatory pre-registration.
