The performing arts are facing a digital transformation – a change that affects everything from creative processes to audience encounters and education. To meet this development, Digital on Stage<\/a> has produced a new handbook that makes it easier for artists and educators to take the step into the digital space. <\/p>\n

The new DIGITAL on STAGE handbook<\/strong> contains 60 video tutorials<\/strong> and as many manuals<\/strong>, and is designed to guide users step-by-step on how to integrate technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) into the performing arts.<\/p>\n

Building on past experience<\/h5>\n

The handbook is a continuation of the project’s previous publication The Digital Realm<\/em><\/a>in which we presented 120 examples of how digital technology is used in the performing arts in six European countries: Sweden, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, France and Belgium. In the new handbook, the focus is on practice. Each tutorial has an accompanying manual that serves as a pedagogical support, and all content is easily accessible via QR codes – just scan and go. <\/p>\n

Intercult’s part of the handbook<\/h5>\n

Each partner has produced 10 tutorials with accompanying manual. Intercult has collaborated with new media artist Adam Wittsell<\/strong> who created ten films based on 3 different themes: Sound, Image and Movement. Adam has in turn worked with three artists to highlight the creative process in the different techniques. We get to meet music producer H\u00e5kan Lidbo<\/strong> who runs Rumtiden Idea Lab, dancer and choreographer Noah Hellwig<\/strong> and theater director Lisa F\u00e4rnstr\u00f6m<\/strong>. A tool for workshops and training<\/h5>\n

The handbook is specifically designed to be used in workshops, trainings and other contexts where traditional performing arts meet digital technology. It is aimed at artists, mentors and educators who want to broaden their toolbox and find new expressions. <\/p>\n

The content is wide-ranging and inspiring – you will learn how to:
– work with motion capture<\/strong>, face tracking<\/strong> and body-based interaction<\/strong>
– create holograms<\/strong>, VR performances<\/strong> and interactive environments<\/strong>
– use AI-generated images<\/strong>, game mechanics in performing arts<\/strong> and photogrammetry in set design<\/strong><\/p>\n

The handbook is available in English but has also been translated into the 6 languages of the partner organizations.
