Five Swedish performing artists are currently in Maribor, Slovenia, to participate in a European mobility program. The program is part of the Creative Europe project Digital on Stage<\/a>, which explores how digital tools can be used artistically in the performing arts. For one intensive week, between 30 June and 4 July 2025, participants will meet at the KIBLA Multimedia center to explore innovative technologies with artists and mentors from across Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n

The program offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with digital tools such as VR\/AR, AI-generated content, 3D worlds, streaming and interactive installations. It’s not about technology for technology’s sake – it’s about how these tools can contribute to new scenic expressions and reach a wider audience. Participants will be guided by experts in the field and will work both individually and in groups to develop prototypes, concepts and artistic sketches.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program is divided into two periods, with the next group of artists arriving already next week. Both weeks are filled with workshops, presentations and networking opportunities – a creative melting pot where ideas cross-fertilize across language and national borders. Participants are a mix of performing artists with long experience of digital tools and those looking to explore the subject. The line-up includes both well-established names and emerging artists at the start of their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Digital on Stage is an initiative that puts the artist at the center and provides space for experimentation and exploration. By combining technology, performing arts and international collaboration, a platform for the future of performing arts is created. Intercult is a proud partner in this project and is excited to see the results – both on site in Maribor and in upcoming presentations around Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

In total, 30 artists participate per week, 5 from each partner country: Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Swedish artists selected by Intercult for the program are:

Week 1: <\/strong>
\n<\/span>Arash Anbari<\/b><\/a> – Graphic designer, VR developer, technician and educator<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicole Chufi<\/b><\/a> – Audiovisual artist working at the intersection of technology, performance and immersive storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n

Emma Bexell<\/b><\/a> – Director, dramaturge, scriptwriter and producer. Founder of Bombina Bombast and Artistic Director 2011-2024. <\/span><\/p>\n

Elias Shapiro<\/b><\/a> – Sound designer specializing in performance art, works at the intersection of music, technology and immersive experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sanna All\u00e5ker<\/b><\/a> – Dancer and choreographer with a background in interdisciplinary performing arts. Sanna has previously been in residence through Intercult with the project Theatre in Palm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Week 2:
\n<\/strong>Selma Kjellsson<\/b><\/a> – Dancer and conceptual performer working with immersive art installations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Noah Hellwig<\/b><\/a> – Dance artist working in contexts where extended choreography, contemporary dance, performance art, baroque dance, interactive performing arts and interactive media meet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paloma Madrid<\/b><\/a> – Performance artist, dancer, dance teacher and choreographer<\/span><\/p>\n

Marika Hedemyr<\/b><\/a> – Artist, choreographer and researcher with experience working with AR and VR and site-specific art.<\/span><\/p>\n

Martina Viglietti<\/b><\/a> – Actor, director and journalist. Martin has previously been in residence via Intercult with the project Theatre in Palm <\/span><\/p>\n
