“How do we make something that already is – so that it becomes something?
The world will change.
Can we approach that perspective, to create something more out of it, even?”
The place that inspired the artist Tobias Sjöberg for this artwork is Skillebyholm – a meeting place for biodynamic cultivation in Järna, outside of Södertälje. In the cultivation, it is clear what we evolve from, a strong inspiration for the artistry. Cultivation means culture, and agriculture means spiritual cultivation. Through actions, inner values can be evoked, self-cultivation. We need to rethink our way of living; it is a reminder that there is something to be found in each one of us – that makes a difference. The Earth touches us all; we cannot separate ourselves from the Earth.”

Tobias Sjöberg, born in 1979, have studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Goldsmiths in London and the Royal Stockholm School of Art. His work touches on recurring questions about our contemporary worldview perspectives. How do we shape and reshape our worldview based on what is completely self-perceived? Sjöberg works with painting, often with watercolor. His latest solo exhibition, Garden for the Blind, is on display at Tomelilla Konsthall until March 5, 2023.
